Air Duct Leakage Test
Air Duct Test:
After covering/sealing all supply and return ducts, you use a very powerful fan (smaller than the fan used in the Blower Door Test), to pressurize or depressurize the duct system. The results are determined by measuring the difference in air pressure produced by the fan, and the air pressure as read after the air has fully circulated thru the duct system, thus producing a quantitative measure of duct efficiency.
Air Duct Test consists of:
-
A variable-speed fan
-
A flexible duct line that attaches to both the fan and a return duct
-
A pressure gauge that measures pressure differences in air pressure (duct leakiness)
-
An airflow manometer and hoses for measuring airflow/pressure.
-
Possible use of fogger to find additional leaks for sealing.
Did you know that exposed and leaky ducts and vents can be responsible for reducing your heating and air conditioning’s efficiency by up to 20%! That translates directly into higher energy costs and an uncomfortable home, which is why it’s so important to address these problems immediately.
